Kate Middleton Wedding Dress Pictures Revealed

It was the event that everyone was watching, the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and the dress that stopped the world. All was finally revealed as Kate made her entrance into Westminster Abbey. Wearing a stunning long-sleeve lace, ivory and satin gown with flattering V neckline and 8-foot-long train with a simple lace-edged veil and sparkling tiara to set off the picturesque vision. Queen Elizabeth II lent her the Cartier-designed "halo" tiara, and the teardrop diamond earrings were a personal gift from her parents.

The first glimpse

OMG...Stunnning. The designer of the most awaited dress in history thus far, by Sarah Burton, the 36-year-old creative director of British fashion house Alexander McQueen! Kate's ivory duchess satin heels were also courtesy of Alexander McQueen.

Could there be a more fairytale princess wedding? kate worked closely with the designer to create  a " dress to combine tradition and modernity with the artistic vision that characterises...McQueen's work."

Sister and bridesmaid Pippa was on hand to help Kate with the gown as she made her entrance. The bodice and skirt's lace appliqué was handmade by the Royal School of Needlework, while the dress is made of ivory and white satin gazar. The pleated skirt was made to resemble an "opening flower" (love!), and the bodice, which was "padded at the hips, draws on the Victorian tradition of corsetry."

Check out some of the crazy hats that appeared during the ceremony, pictuedd are Princesses Beatrice, 22, and Eugenie, 21

What do you think of Kate's dress?

The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton

Can you hear the wedding bells? Today is the day of the Royal Wedding of His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales, K.G. with Miss Catherine Middleton on 29th April, 2011, 11.00am at Westminster Abbey. The Royal event will be seen in Australia on ABC1, Channel 7, 9, 10 at 7.30pm EST.

The preparations are being made and excitement is in the air across the world. With up to 2 billion people expected to watch the 6 hour long wedding ceremony, 2000 guests, an estimated cost of $70 million thanks to Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth II and more than 10,000 journalists attending, this is sure to be highlight of 2011 weddings.

Whether you love it or hate it, the wedding of the century is on. It seems like every man and his dog are either rejoicing and cashing in on the event or promoting anti-wedding behaviour.

I like to think of this wedding as just to young kids in love - wouldn't it be delightful if they just eloped. Oh, the scandal it would cause. Although it would probably be very unlikely.

Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton have even set up a charitable gift fund for those who very generously may wish to donate to charity to help the couple celebrate their wedding. Aww

The marriage service begins and is relayed by speakers along the route. There will also be big screens in Hyde Park and Trafalgar Square.

The Venue:

For 1,000 years the 11th century Westminster Abbey has been a backdrop to royal weddings, coronations and funerals

The dress:

Okay, you've got me. This is obviously not the REAL image of her dress as its a secret, but Miss Middleton's wedding gown is expected to be modest and will apparently show a little flesh. Ooh la la.

As for the Royal Wedding programme, boy does it go on and on and on.

Even Dominoes pizza have hired extra staff expecting an influx of stay in pizza orders from Royal Wedding watchers as they watch the event on television tonight. Domino’s chief operations officer Andrew Rennie said. “We will make more than 160,000 pizzas...which is more than 14.5 tonnes of mozzarella cheese and more than 12.5 tonnes of pizza sauce. That’s enough to line the streets of London for the royal parade.’’

Hope you can tune in and see the magic happen

Ballet Russes: The Art Of Costume | National Gallery of Australia

Although most of the events I describe are baseed in Sydney, I really wanted to shed some light on The Ballets Russes: the art of costume, that is currently featured at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra.

One of the world’s richest collections of costumes from the famed Ballets Russes resides at the National Gallery of Australia and will be on display in December 2010 in this major exhibition. Through 140 costumes from 34 productions from 1909 to 1939, the vivid and innovative dance design of the early 20th century will be brought to life on the 100th anniversary of the Ballets Russes. The Ballets Russes: the art of costume includes costumes by Natalia Goncharova, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, André Derain, Georges Braque, André Masson and Giorgio de Chirico.

The vivid and innovative dance design of the early 20th century is brought to life through 150 costumes and accessories from 34 productions from 1909 to 1939; one third of the costumes have not been seen since they were last worn on stage. The exhibition also features photographs, film, music, artists’ drawings and more.

The Ballets Russes productions had been conceived in the context of powerful and emotional artistic collaboration, and their costumes command attention as persuasive works of art in their own right, long after they ceased to be worn on stage.

'

Bakst re-imagined the richness of Russian folklore and 18th-century France;new forms of music built around atonalism and primitive rhythms. Russian designers Léon Bakst and Alexandre Benois provided the sumptuous and exotic spectacle of the first performances while other artists of the emerging Russian and European avant-garde joined Diaghilev—among them, Michel Larionov, Natalia Goncharova, Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Giorgio de Chirico, André Derain, Robert and Sonia Delaunay and Pavel Tchelitchev.

All are shown in the dreamlike landscape of this exhibition, allowing us to experience the vision and passion of Diaghilev and his designers, dancers, collaborators and successors as they interpreted the great romantic stories and legends of history against the framework of the moral contradictions of the emerging 20th century. Join us in celebrating the centenary of the Ballets Russes and to see how its electrifying spirit continues for our time and place.

Holroyd Cityfest Parade & Street Fair Merrylands 2011 Review

A few Saturday's ago I took a stroll down the main road in Merrylands town centre to visit the Holroyd Cityfest parade and street fair. With all my usual favourites, I was surprised and delighted to see a few new additions to the fair.

Festival Girl Rates: 6.5/10

Festival Girl Highlights:
I thought the addition of the Turksih tea tent was fantastic idea and so refreshing. Turkish delight anyone?

This is my favourite stall - I love snow cones and these guys have all the best flavours like grape, pineapple, black cherry, mango, fairy floss, bubblegum, green apple and watermelon.

The face painting queue was full of eager kids wanting to get in on the festival fun

This talented lady was drawing one of the spectators and doing a really good job of it.

Lots of arts and crafts for the kiddies to take part in

Oohs pretty colours

Mmm sweet like candy. My favourite is the red licorice, which I happen to be eating right now

Lovin' the Middle eastern decor - I want one of Moroccan influenced lamps

Time for tea? All decked out with turkish tapestries, seating cushions, traditional tea pots and FREE dates and turkish delights treats to enjoy.

Mmm fairy floss, I think Pink tastes way better than blue. And don't even get me started on yellow.

Beautiful parasols for sale for $10 each. I couldn't think of a better chance to use them as it was such a hot day in Autumn

This giant teddy was only $30, what a bargain

Ooh design your own cupcake - my favourite cupcake flavour would have to be vanilla buttercream with strawberry sprinkles. Would it be weird if I asked this company to help me celebrate my next birthday? There's no recommended age limit, right?

Sparkles and sprinkles. Yummers

Traditionally dressed Macedonian performers entertain the crowd with Macedonian folk songs and Aussie favourites

Cute handmade tea cosies

I spotted a group of hip hop youths doing some crazy breakdancing moves. It's really inspiring to see these kids enjoy themselves, express themselves and just doing what they love. The guys on stage decided to pull up a little boy who was probably about 7 years old from the crowd and he broke into this serious hip hop dance with serious attitude and facial expressions. The crowd loved it as it was so unexpected.
