Ultimo Pyrmont Uptown Festival | on 19 March

2011 marks the Pyrmont Ultimo UPTown Festival’s 30th anniversary and for this year’s birthday event on March 19 will be extra extraordinary, packed with a tonne of fun and excitement for the whole community. This free Sydney festival has been delighting the community since 1980 started by two enterprising local residents, Debra Berryman and Olga Reader, as a simple get-together to unite the small local community.

With humble beginnings, the iconic community festival has sprouted to become an annual treasure that attracts hundreds of residents and visitors from right across Inner Sydney to Ultimo’s Quarry Green area look forward to each year.

The 30th birthday celebration will feature all-day musical entertainment from new and established artists, and showcase of sourced international and organic food and confectionery, arts and crafts stalls, personal care and gift items, and historical displays.

The most exciting part for me is the showcase of craftspeople and designers promoting their products, from community banking to organic bread, ceramics and handmade jewellery, bags, books and bric-a-brac. There will also be a raffle for $8,000 in prizes donated by local companies and even the children’s rides – the kids’ and youth activities, trampoline bungee, pony rides and the animal farm are all provided free of charge.
