Sydney Vintage, Clothing, Jewellery and Textiles Show

The Sydney Vintage Clothing, Jewellery and Textiles Show is on again for this year's second instalment. The show is held twice a year in April and October the show features over 60 exhibitors from all over Australia, selling vintage and antique clothing and accessories, antique and vintage jewellery, linen, lace and textiles and small collectables.

There is nothing I love more than coming to this event, this will be the fourth time and every time I come home with something new (thats old) and learn about old things that are new to me.

This event runs over 3 days and really offers something new for each day. Friday night is really good for all the working gals as it ends at 9 pm and even has, my favourite - a Vintage clothing fashion show, where real people model their vintage items. There is nothing nicer than seeing a grand daughter wearing her grandmothers colourful sun dress that she wore on her engagement day, with full accessories. There is something so beautiful about being connected to apart of history and your family. Something that can transcend through time. The best Vintage dressed wins a prize.

It's nice to see a new audience embracing the concept of vintage and recycling fashion and styles. Growing up, my friends always (lovingly) called me a grandma, as I loved all old fashioned things and things that are handmade. I'm not really sure where my passion for vintage came from. I think it probably my auntie, who always had the most interesting and overflowing cupboard of the most interesting scarves, dresses, bags, shoes. Even to this day, when I visit her, it is an overwhelming menagerie of knick knacks, textiles, toys, pictures, art - it's like an artistic volcano has erupted in her living room - but I love being there.

I love people watching and seeing all the types of people who attend; the young girls wearing head to toe Sportsgirl 'vintage' style as its now cool to wear Nanna chic - but it is nice to see them venturing out past than what the stores can offer and looking for original and unique pieces and giving them a second or third life.

The show will also feature a presentation of vintage fashions, lectures by Guest Speakers, Swing Dancers, Demonstration of Vintage Makeup and Hairstyle Techniques and other fabulous entertainment - see program page for more details.

There will be lots of  prizes to be given away for Best Dressed in Vintage, so make sure you come dressed in your favourite vintage outfit.

Lucky Door Prizes will be given away every day and there will also be a raffle conducted.
